Bedbugs are small, wingless insects. Bedbugs live solely on the blood of warm-blooded animals. Bedbugs are about the size of a poppy seed when they hatch, and adults are about 1/5 inch long and 1/8 inch wide. Bed bugs are oval in shape and appear white when moulting before changing to a light tan, burnt orange, or deep brown. Bed bugs typically seek refuge in dark corners and cracks.
They have not been related to any disease transmission and are not considered a medical danger. Scratching bites, on the other hand, can cause scarring and infections in certain people. Though the bugs are not directly considered as a vector for transmitting diseases, they are surely serious stressors and can create a lot of distress and alarm. Bedbugs can induce mild to moderate delusional parasitosis in some people.
